FISH BAY, Tortola, VI – “There is no need for anyone to be complaining that they have been stranded for long times not knowing who to call or where to go should they end up in an emergency with their vehicle because The Tortola Automobile Association (TAA) is the only 24 hour roadside assistance company in Tortola. We are new on the block.”

That was according to the management of the company as they rolled out the red carpet of their services last week.

“We help provide freedom and peace of mind to our members throughout the Island. TAA provides access to an impressive and ever-expanding range of innovative and reliable services that allow you to drive with confidence. Pricing starts at just $99 per year and you can add additional vehicles from the same household for just $50 more per unit!” explained management to this news site.

According to the new company they offer exceptional Emergency Roadside Service.

Their main goal at Tortola Automobile Association is to exceed expectations by providing superior roadside products and services. “TAA strongly believes that customers always come first and we will continue to go the extra distance to meet our customer's ever changing needs,” they said.

Defining how TAA works and what are the roadside services that are currently available it was outlined that if a person’s car or other vehicle experiences over-heating they would send help to attempt minor mechanical ‘first aid’ to get that person to a garage of their choice.

“You lock the keys inside? You hop out of your car, shut the door, and lock the keys inside. We’ll come to open it, with no damage either to the lock, or to the car’s body. If you get a flat tire, your vehicles spare tire will be installed, as long as it’s inflated and serviceable. You got home late and left the lights on by mistake. We’ll jump start your dead battery to give a boost, and get you going again. You hoped to make it to the next service station, but you didn’t. Tell us where you are and we'll get you back in gear,” they explained.

The service also caters for if one slides into a ditch and needs to get back on the road. TAA will arrange to extricate/winch the vehicle if it can be reached safely from a normally travelled road. “If all else fails, we'll provide towing services...If attempts to make your vehicle operable at roadside have been unsuccessful, towing will be provided. Your vehicle will be towed to a facility of your choice,” personnel from the service said.

TAA management said that they decided to form the company based on the loud cry for such a void to be filled in the Virgin Islands.

“We have had so many persons encouraging us to do this because it is a service that is really needed and most time and money spent and time wasted trying to get assistance speedily was before now virtually a disaster,” said one of the managers. They encouraged persons interested in the service to go through their website where all the needed information can be found and also one can register on line at www.taaroadside.com.

This will last 6 months tops. We cannot carbon copy every business from the USA and elsewhere. Size, culture etc.. If my car stalls or gets a flat, I either change it or call someone to pick me up.

Ok, check me in 6 months. That's the problem with you all, when people talk the harsh truth, they're a hater. All I'm saying is if a business is set up solely to provide these services it will not make it. Most of the other car dealers offer this service. Most people have a personal mechanic who they can call. How many people will use it? Why would they need to use it? No hating here, simply asking simple real life questions.

But on a serious note: Who owns this business? I agree that we often carbon copy many businesses in the US hoping that they are successful only to have them fail. I think we need to realize that this place is small and we simply don't have the market in the BVI. Nonetheless I wish them success.
