ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Summer Sizzle 2012 has finally launched and is bigger than ever, where international and regional models, celebrities and the Kings and Queens of the media, magazine and fashion world, partied on the breath-taking premises of Scrub Island Resort, yesterday July 20, 2012.

The event which is said to be a fashion and lifestyle event, is organised and supervised by Virgin Islander, who now resides in New York City, Terry Donovan, founder of Signature by Terry Donovan Events.

Mr. Donovan told this news site that the event plays a huge role in luring the people of the world to the Virgin Islands.

“My goal is to make the BVI one of the top summer destinations in the world. This is a promotion to the BVI economy, a promotion that can reap dividend that is much needed in the country. The event is about travel and fashion where we try to combine, fashion, sun and fun... we want to make BVI that fabulous place where many can come and enjoy.”

At the launching of the 2012 Summer Sizzle, invited guests were treated to the culture of the Virgin Islands, where they saw a cultural dance, listened to the VI’s traditional music and many more.

Along with the models, the event also had the presence of Mr. Dale Morris, who is the Regional Vice President for American Airlines, and has partnered with Mr. Donovan on the Summer Sizzle project.

“The partnership between Summer Sizzle and American Airlines is a good opportunity, because it influences people to travel, and our goal is to make people excited to travel to the territory,” said Mr. Donovan.

The event also saw the presence of international journalists coming from Covenant Post, FashionbombDaily.com, Essence Magazine and Ebony Magazine.

“We live in a world where it’s all about social media and that’s what people want, and these kind of magazines are the type of media who can spread the events worldwide, and it becomes an instant invitation to the Virgin Islands.”

The four-day event will continue later this evening, July 20, 2012 with a white party at the Scrub Island, where Summer Sizzle first began and has made its way to other islands in the VI. The event originally started in 2007.
