ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The ultimate time to party and go wild is upon us. A time cherished by people all around the world, where they can relax on vacations or just party their days and nights away.

On June 10, 2012, Summer began very early for the people of the Virgin Islands, with former chairman of the BVI Music Festival Frank Mahoney introducing the first ever Summer Beach Jams 2012 sponsored by Hennessy at Brewers Bay on Tortola. The beach party will continue every Sunday until the first week in September.

The first beach jam was held on June 10, 2012 which featured the Xtreme Band and DJ Dre.

The beach jam that brought an early start of summer to the VI, will be hosting events on that one day when nothing is there to do and nowhere is there to go, Sundays.

Organizer of the event, Mr. Mahoney said the aim of the Summer Beach Jams are to create something fun and exciting to do with family, friends or a significant other on a Sunday.

“Traditionally, there is nothing to do on a Sunday, so the jams do not compete with any other functions. People can come out, eat and drink and have a grand time.”

Mr. Mahoney stated that the idea of the event came from his experiences as Chairman of the BVI Music Festival and seeing that the day was vacant, he decided to host something on that day so the people of the VI can have something exciting to do.

Someone attending the Beach Jams, according to Mahoney, will be entertained by performances from different local bands and acts while enjoying great food, drinking and dancing.

He added that every Sunday the jams take a different theme, where one Sunday would be bands, and the other Sunday would be local acts, DJs or international acts.

The organizer mentioned that Brewers Bay is the main location of the event but a Summer Beach Jam will also be held in Virgin Gorda at Prickley Pier and Jost Van Dyke at White Bay Beach. He added that those dates will be disclosed to the public at a later date.

DJ Sound Clash

This Sunday June 24, 2012, the top DJs in the Virgin Islands will come head to head in a competition dubbed as ‘Summer Beach bash Jams DJ Sound Clash’.

The clash will feature Lion Sounds, DJ Cougar, DJ Dre and DJ Commodore.

“The clash is something that goes back to the streets where a number of DJs come out and showcase their skills in different music genres.”

He added that he wants to show the people of the VI that they can have a goodtime with clean fun, without partying until 3 in the morning.

For future performances, Mr. Mahoney told this news site that he is trying to bring Spectrum Band from St. Thomas to play with the Hard Core Band out of Virgin Gorda. He added that he is trying to seal the deal with popular Caribbean artist Shurwayne Winchester.

“The event is to get the public ready for all that is going to happen in the upcoming August festival.”

The jams begin from 12 and runs until 9 p.m. every Sunday at Brewers Bay, free of costs.

Yes people, there we have it! The young people can pose with bottles of poison but are locked up and fined thousands upon thousands if caught with a little leaf of a natural plant. What is really wrong with this world? Brewers Bay is a long drive for many who would be attending these events and look what they're pushing, hard rum Hennessy. I'm not a holier than thou type, I have a drink every now and then, but the hypocrisy when it comes to these things is really mind boggling. Drink all you want, mash up your liver, kidney and whatever else, end up on dialysis, cost government millions a year for treatment, but don't you dare touch that bush, not even if you want to make tea to deal with asthma and other ailments.
