ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Style BVI hair show will be held on Sunday December 7, 2014 at the UP's Crystal Ballroom in Road Town, Tortola promises to be bigger and better with a high profile celebrity judge, said Nathan R. Wong of the organizing committee.

The Style BVI Hair & Beauty Expo is a one-day hair & beauty sensation where fans, customers, hair, fashion and make up enthusiasts can come watch and participate with some of the Virgin Islands’ hair salon industry’s hottest talents.

Speaking to this news site today October 28, 2014, committee member Nathan R. Wong said the original idea and show started to help local salons in the Virgin Islands promote themselves. “There are a lot of salons here that use radio advertisements and I myself and one of the other committee members both own salons and realize that radio might not be the most effective ways to promote our business so we thought of the hair show…we did it last year and it was a great success,” he said.

“Following the show they are already talking about next year’s show. So the time has come, we’ve been planning since August,” he said. “We have confirmed [Glenda “Ms. J” Jemison], she has a reality for her hair school for Oprah Winfrey Network. She is going to be our celebrity judge and we are going to have two more international judges coming down,” said Wong.

A press release from the committee quoted Jasmine A. Perez, Public Relations Executive of Digicel BVI, as saying, “Competitions of this nature stimulate creativity that may otherwise have gone untapped. Digicel is happy to know that we can assist with helping this event to grow and continue to give BVI stylists an avenue to express their creativity.”

“It is so refreshing to partner with a group of extreme professionals, such as the team at Digicel. They live up to their brand of "Be Extraordinary" and it is just amazing how much support the biggest of big cell phone companies in the Territory have given Style BVI from our very first hair show last year. This year, Style BVI has much bigger aspirations and goals and we have been humbled once again with Digicel's continued support and sponsorship for the event on December 7th,” said the Style BVI committee in the press release.

This year will be even bigger than last year with 20+ salons that are scheduled to participate, including over 100 local Virgin Islands hair models.

B’more and Melanie Amaro (X-Factor Winner & Bvilander) have also elevated the entertainment to another level during this year’s show that will be the feature regional and international musical performances. A professional grade production, lighting and sound can also be expected and the music will be juggled by well-known Dj Dre.

The release said that the amazing hosts from last year’s show, Zoe MacMillan and Ricki Richardson will be back again.

“Prizes this year will be for best braids, best weaving, best natural style, best cut and color, best wedding style, the people's choice award and the main event, the most outrageous hairstyle. There will be a door raffle entry for various prizes as well as raffle entry that you will receive FREE with your ticket,” the release said.

Advanced tickets for the show can be purchased at Hazem’s Beauty Supply in Road Town, and Mr. Nice Guy in Virgin Gorda for $25. Tickets will also be for sale for $30 at the door on the night of the event.

“Call Nathan R. Wong at 340 2998 or Aymen Husein at 545 0000 for more information, email us atinfo@eventsbvi.com or stay up to date with the latest announcements online atwww.facebook.com/stylebvi,” said the committee

Thank you for advertising this event in a timely manner.

@BVI Tourist Board; can you please publish the menus for the Anegada Lobster Festival? The event is right around the corner and people living outside of the BVI do travel and support these events. We would like to enjoy the experience. Thank you very much.
