Two of the students were reportedly gambling when an argument ensued and one of the students left and returned with two other students after which a fight allegedly ensued.

According to reports, chairs were used in the brawl and at least one of the students received an injury to his head and had to seek medical attention for it.

It was also alleged that police were notified, however, efforts to get a comment from Police Information Officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), Diane Drayton were not successful.

It was also alleged that the students who attacked and injured the student are part of a well-known gang, however, the source could not confirm this information.

You are the laughing stock of all these news sites with the drivel you post. I have no problem with you being anti NDP but your posts should at least be factual.

a suspension means nothing (except a vacation) unless there are consequences. Make the kids do some community service or let's hope the parents rein them in. But there is the problem, where are the parents?
I'm glad they did get suspended so that those students can get on with learning. Gambling??? start there...

its not poor policing!! for years we all have known that the high school is TOO FULL!, and there is not enough staff and resources. this is something the teachers and principals have no control over. when parents are told there is no space they call up their family in government and next thing you know their child is a member of the school. children have to go hunting for chairs to sit in their classes. in addition high school has also had to accept a lot of the 'problem children' from the "elite" private schools who no longer want them. private schools can say no, but high school can't say no. gambling is forbidden in the school, so is drinking and smoking, but guess what, children do it anyway. people pass things to them through the fence and some even jump the fence! how many of you are willing to give up your lunch hour and come in here to help "police" our children at lunch time?! when the children were being searched for weapons at the gate in the morning the community put up a big cry about violation of children's rights, and making them late for classes. children go to school with ice picks, knives and other things to hurt their school mates. why don't some of you open your eyes and be honest with yourselves, you can't wait for monday mornings to drop that child off! don't expect strangers to do for your children what you will not!!!!

@facing the flames. I agree with you, parents need to start paying more attention to their children and help ease the strain the teachers have to go through to discipline them. It's really sad to hear of the over crowding in the High School this is not a good thing indeed. I think we need to start having community meetings on how we can better this country we live in. I'm seeing too much negativity going on and it has to stop.

What are parents suppose to do about a crowded high school? I thought that every four years, you all elect people to run your country and take care of the education system. Yes, parents MUST get involved and not let the burden of discipline fall solely on teachers. However, no parent should be told that their child cannot get a public high school education because it is too ful. This has being going on for years. Get your politicians to fix it or you all fix them. Country above self and children are the future of that country.
