Students involved in fight at ESHS suspended
Two of the students were reportedly gambling when an argument ensued and one of the students left and returned with two other students after which a fight allegedly ensued.
According to reports, chairs were used in the brawl and at least one of the students received an injury to his head and had to seek medical attention for it.
It was also alleged that police were notified, however, efforts to get a comment from Police Information Officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), Diane Drayton were not successful.
Chief Education Officer (Ag.), Jillian Douglas-Phillip and Principal (Ag.) of ESHS, Wade W. Tobin could not be reached also while Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Culture, Dr Marcia Potter said she was “away on duty travel”.
However, reliable sources at the Elmore Stoutt High School informed this news site that the students involved in the fight have been suspended.
The student who was “attacked by the other students” and injured received a 6-day suspension, the source said. The other students reportedly received nearly two weeks' suspension, the source added.
It was also alleged that the students who attacked and injured the student are part of a well-known gang, however, the source could not confirm this information.
