Struiken blazes ‘Beef Island Summer Sizzle’ 10K course

TRELLIS BAY, Beef Island, VI- The CERES 10K Series continued on Saturday August 17, 2019 with Race 2, dubbed the Beef Island Summer Sizzle, won by Clifton Struiken.

Struiken ran unchallenged for this second win in the series in a blazing time of 36:33.8.

Second was Julius Farley who clocked 40:28.2 and third Christian Hidalgo in 42:38.7.

Meanwhile, Katrina Lindsay also had no challenge en route to winning the women’s division. Lindsay clocked 42:08.1          and was third overall.

Caroline Sorrentino was second in 46:45.0 while Johanna Murphy placed third with a time of 48:00.3.

The field of 30 runners took off from outside Jeremy’s Kitchen in Trellis Bay and headed towards Minines nursery, returned along the old airport road and back through the airport by the terminal before returning to the starting point for one of three loops.

The course was regarded as a practice for the upcoming ‘Steelman” triathlon event.

The field of 30 runners were then treated to CERES Juices and water by Proudly African and Coffee and continental pastries at Jeremy’s kitchen.

The next race in the 10K series is on September 21, 2019 at Carrot Bay.

    Fantastic race, incredible time at the front and new faces. Thanks Ceres for all the juices and great to hang out at Jeremy's kitchen, look forward to the opening

    There is an event in BVI named Summer Sizzle BVI so why is there another organization using the name Summer Sizzle? Just disrespectful.
