POLICE left their patrol vehicle on the shore in Cedros on Sunday and went out to sea on a boat in search of suspected drug smugglers.

They returned to find that the high tide had swamped their vehicle.
The vehicle sustained extensive damage. It is uncertain if the drug smugglers were found.
