The Powerful Opposition Tri-Party Alliance in St.Kitts-Nevis known as Team UNITY will not allow the illegitimate Douglas regime to steal the elections. That’s the view of its charismatic Leader, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.

To signal to the country that democracy is being undermined and democracy has to be fought for, the alliance which according to all polls will easily take the reigns of power after the next election, will take to the streets once again.

The Team Unity will on Friday 13th June, stage a protest March. The March will get started around 4 pm starting at Greenlands and will make its way through the streets of Basseterre.

Team UNITY is stating:

A terrible onslaught on free and fair elections and democracy has been waged by the illegitimate Douglas regime through:

1. The refusal of the Speaker and government to hold a Motion of No Confidence for last 18 months.

2. The proposal to gerrymander the boundaries while the government has lost the support of the majority of elected Members of Parliament.

3. The appointment of Party hacks like Wingrove George to the post Supervisor of Elections.

4. The delay in getting responses from the Electoral Commission.

5. Refusal of the Supervisor of Elections to administer the electoral office with impartiality.

6. The refusal of Supervisor of Elections to cause the publication and distribution of monthly photo lists, and transfer lists with photos to the opposition while such photo lists are made available to the ruling Party.

7. The illegal registration and transfers perpetrated by electoral officers in furtherance of the interests of the Douglas Labour Party.

8. The illegal registering of African students to vote in general elections.

9. Offering bribes to persons. Such bribes include offering of jobs, houses and money in exchange for votes.

10. The refusal of Peter Jenkins, Chairman of ZIZ to provide access to the state own media (ZIZ) to the opposition Parties and the scandalous propagandization of state owned ZIZ as the Labour Party Communication Station.

11. The use of government resources such as government Printery to print documents for the Douglas Labour Party. Right thinking persons have condemned the practice of the press secretary in the office of the prime minister using that position to produce and disseminate articles, press releases and other propaganda on behalf of the Douglas Labour Party. The corrupting influence of the illegitimate Douglas regime is too pervasive and unprecedented in its lack of decency and propriety.

12. Contrary to the laws and regulations the Douglas Labour Party has nominated as Party candidates persons like Terrence Drew and Vance Gilbert who are paid from the Civil Service vote. The rules of fairness and decency require that persons employed in civil service should resign their post before engaging in party politics as candidates.

13. Contrary to the rules regulating membership of the Defence Force, the Douglas Labour Party has named among its candidates Norgen Wilson and Vance Gilbert. Both of them are senior members in the Defence Force. This should be condemned and we call on the Governor General to take corrective action.

14. Contrary to the rules of the Civil Service, the Douglas Labour Party has been using Permanent Secretaries to act in official capacities for the Labour Party.

15. Misuse of state funds to pay as consultants Labour Party hacks including some serving on the executive of the Douglas Labour Party. The consultancy involves primarily work to benefit the partisan interest of the Labour Party and is tantamount to an improper application of government resources to facilitate the reelection of the Douglas Labour Party.

16. Contrary to the civil service rules and regulations the illegitimate regime has proceeded to hire as constituency officers, party hacks with little or no formal academic qualifications and has used them as political surrogates of the Labour Party. This is a clear abuse of the civil service rules and regulations, an abuse of state power and misappropriation of state resources for party political gain. Several of these new hirelings are at the forefront of the political campaign of the Douglas Labour Party.

The list is not exhaustive. It indicates the lawlessness, and serial violation of the law, civil service rules and regulations, and the violation of our constitution.

The Team UNITY alliancs is calling on all People of every creed, race and class are asked to support this historic March on 13th June as the first step to restore our Democracy and promote shared prosperity for all.
