CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, USVI - The Adults Parade of the annual Carnival on St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands once again attracted the usual large turnout when it took place yesterday May 3, 2014, proving again how well established this event has become over the decades.

The event which came one day following the Children’s parade saw thousands in their various colours and costumes as the various troupes moved through the streets in a kaleidoscope of cultures.

This year’s St. Thomas Carnival was held under the theme, ‘The Biggest Fete Ever Seen, Carnival 2014.’

Many residents from the Virgin Islands: Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke, traveled down for the festivities including the Children’s Parade and the most popular event - the Carnival Races, both held on May 2, 2014 and the Adults Parade held on May 3, 2014.

“The colors and music at the Adults Parade were amazing. Carnival 2014 has now slipped into the history books,” wrote the VI Carnival Committee on its Facebook page today.

Hope they get some of these troops up for our 60th anniversary if Myron does not do further harm to the BVI/USVI good relationship

With WVM at the helm the bvi 60th is either going to be a big craps or some scaled down craps the man is a organizing disaster.

Look at other carnivals around the world, and it mean the smaller ones. Montreal, las canarias, las rochas, London. St. Thomas carnival was more interesting in its creativeness and imagination up to 20 years ago. The vi carnival committe needs to open its eyes and stop naively billing this as on an international level. Late starts , boring troupes- except gypsies, huggable bunch, and the smaller ones... Changing the color of a bikini outfit does not make it anymore interesting. Ridiculous and unimaginative TV commentary and coverage. Biased judging, are there only four groups that ever win? And how can you have the same majorette group win in both parades. Give someone else a chance,or better yet the winner is in the adults parade and perhaps an international maj. Entry.. Not all 20!,, get the kids out if the adults parade. Etc.,etc, after 62 years you should be embarrassed for considering this other than being on an amateur level.
