ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Neil St Rose from St Lucia allegedly threatened to take the life of a man who testified in court against his friend, who was eventually made to serve time at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP).

Prosecutor Kael London said, according to a police report, on May 5, 2019, the Virtual Complainant (VC) was at a bar with his wife when he was approached by St Rose seeking an audience with him outside.

When they arrived outside, St Rose took him to a parked vehicle where his friend, who had been released from prison, sat.

“That’s the man who make you go jail,” St Rose reportedly told his friend.

The VC then replied: “I didn’t make you go jail,” and tried to leave, but St Rose allegedly said to him, “I still will kill you…you not going anywhere.”

The VC, when he was allowed to leave, reported the matter to police. St Rose was charged with ‘Perverting the course of Justice’. The matter will be heading to the High Court if there is sufficient evidence before the Magistrate's Court.

Bail

Magistrate Ayanna O. Baptiste-DaBreo then placed St Rose on a $70,000 bond with signed sureties.

He was also given bail conditions such as reporting to the Virgin Gorda Police Station on Mondays and Fridays between 6:00am to 6:00pm.

St Rose is to have no contact with the VC in this matter, the magistrate said.

The expatriate is being represented by Patrick Thompson and is slated to return before the court on November 19, 2019.

Rastaman! Why you keep letting those people get to you? You have a well paid job. Your good at what you do. Why year after year you just letting those clowns get the best of you? Your a quiet person but in the court room every few months will make it look like your the troubled maker……

Why are they allowing him to stay. He's not from here and allegedly threatening a witness against his friend? Nonsense! Government, only you can stop this insanity by deporting. When the others see you mean business, their behinds will shape up fast. STOP allowing outsiders to keep people here hostage. SMDH!

Agreed! $70,000 bond is a serious amount of money, and after a 3-month sentence an expat convict is eligible for deportation. If expat offenders are convicted and sentenced to 3 months imprisonment, they should just be deported after conviction thus minimizing the increase of the local prison population. Let them misbehave in their own countries, where I am pretty sure their penalty will be much stiffer and they might think twice before engaging in criminal offences.

Why not deport these people from in and out of prison? Isn't that the law ! If this was done the problem would have been solved.

Isn’t tampering with a witness a Federal Offense? This guy is a vigilante for his friend? He feels he’s above the law? This means deportation as well as jail time. Stop allowing outsiders to insult our court system, laughing in our face. Government needs to stick to their guns and run them out of town.
