St Croix, USVI woman raped at Frederiksted bus stop
FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI — A woman who told police that she was raped at a bus stop in Frederiksted, received medical attention at the Juan F. Luis Hospital following the incident, according to a press release issued late Monday January 18, 2016 by Sakeeda Freeman, the (US) VIPD’s media specialist.
Ms Freeman said at about 11:36am on Saturday, January 16, 2016 officers received notification of a rape victim seeking treatment at JFL.
Officers then met with the victim, a 36-year-old female, who stated that on the morning of January 15, 2016 at roughly 9am, she was sitting at the bus stop adjacent to Amigo’s Gas Station, when a vagrant/homeless man approached her. According to the victim, the man then assaulted her, pinned her down and raped her at the bus stop.
The victim said she was familiar with the man that attacked her and provided police with a description and information in regards to where he can be located.
Police continue to investigate the incident, according to Ms Freeman.
