VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – A series of burglaries have been reported on the sister island of Virgin Gorda and police are now seeking the public’s help to bring the perpetrators to justice.

According to a press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), during the overnight hours last night, October 7, 2020, two business establishments- Buck’s Supermarket and a business office- were illegally entered.

“While nothing was reported missing from the supermarket, a significant amount cash was taken from the other location,” police said.

In addition, earlier during this week two villas on Virgin Gorda were also burglarised, one in Spring Bay and the other in Mahoe Bay.

“Flat screen televisions and a mattress were taken,” the RVIPF stated.

 Public's help needed

Head of the Virgin Gorda Policing Division Acting Chief Inspector Selwyn Rock believes, with the public’s help, perpetrators in this week’s burglaries on Virgin Gorda could be quickly apprehended, putting an end to the recent crime spree.

The Acting Chief Inspector said while his officers are making progress in their investigations, information provided by Virgin Gorda community could help to expedite the process.

“Our desire is to bring a quick end to these burglaries by arresting the individuals responsible and restoring the Virgin Gorda community to its former tranquil existence. There are just a few, mostly young individuals responsible. We are asking the public to give us the help needed to identify these individuals.”

Acting Chief Inspector Rock is inviting persons with information to call him directly at 368-9138.

The force currently has twice the amount of police officers it had 20 years ago; back then the officers did a lot more patrolling and crime was very low then now we have more officers and more crime and they hardly patrol anywhere. What are they really doing at those stations?

These persons stealing are nothing but a bunch of Lazy, Weak, Trifling, No-Good Thieves, and one day they will meet their end.. Let them keep it up.. sadly as they live they will die..VG is a small place and if persons know whom they are they should report them, but at times sadly you can’t trust the Cops to keep their mouth shut so no one talks.. I pray they catch them and send all of those hoodlums up Balo.. honestly I feel like someone should beat the hell out of all thieves first then send them Balo.. teach them a lesson.. they know right from wrong..

Pat, whomever you are - either you are the common thief, or simply ignorant! People are hungry - C'mon now and help to shut this thing down. It's lawlessness and is a very dangerous development. Nobody Virgin Gorda is that hungry to go steal and break people homes. Pure selfishness and unadulterated greed. The bastards needs to be cut down quickly and rid the community of them before things get out of hand.

Police do not need the public’s help to solve these spat of burglaries on VG. A young man recently arrested boarding the ferry to VG with a loaded gun. If the law enforcement officers are true crime investigators they can piece the puzzle together. There are lots of questions to ponder:
Where does he leave VG or Tola?
Why was he going to VG?
Why would he need to carry a gun for protection and business owners cannot?
A blind man can solve these cases with his eyes closed without the assistance of the public. Officers do your jobs.

According to the C. I Police are making progress however from the death of Bat Man the police in the BVI was seeking public assistance with crimes, nothing wrong with reminding the public about their civil responsibility however the police need to change their tactics and get up to speed with the modern times, science is now leading the way to solved crimes else, its time now BVI get on board because most of the public are indoors during curfew, so they can't see any crimes being committed, further even if they hear any gossip it's not evidence and the police force hardly offers any rewards. So a new approach must be implemented.

The police would never catch the thief dem if when you call the station dem fast asleep. For times after they can't show up to the scene and when they do show, they wouldn't even get out the patrol vehicle.
