‘Sowande’ accuses Gov Duncan of protecting the NDP
At the time, Mr Wheatley was addressing residents of Anegada during an open air campaign rally in The Settlement yesterday, May 31, 2015 when he said, “We have to let the sun set on the politics of corruption, that type of politics where you have sitting legislators circumventing the rules of the House of Assembly, providing services in the House of Assembly, namely in the form of food during the House of Assembly sessions to the tune of $100,000. And the rule says you cannot have contractual arrangements [without permission from House of Assembly]…but just because you didn’t put a signature on the dotted line does not mean that you don’t have a contractual arrangement.”
Gov Duncan throws challenge out the window
The Opposition members, Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Chairman Hon Julian Fraser RA (R1), senior VIP member Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) Chairman Hon J. Alvin Christopher (R2), reportedly provided the Governor with evidence that two companies that Hon Walwyn has interest in, MVW International Ltd., and The Pub (2012) Ltd., took in some $100,000 in catering money without seeking permission from the House of Assembly. The opposing members of the House then wrote Governor Duncan on this issue.
The Governor’s response to the Opposition’s letter, dated May 1, 2015, was obtained by this news site. Governor Duncan wrote, "I have noted your request for Honourable Myron V. Walwyn to vacate his seat in the House of Assembly. However, as you are aware, the House of Assembly has been dissolved."
The governor continued in his response, "consequently, before I am able to consider your request further, I should be grateful if you can provide me and the other addressees with the evidence that demonstrates that the Member is in violation of the mentioned sections of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007". The members did concede in a subsequent narrative and again got no recourse from the Governor.
‘Gov did not want to hurt NDP during elections’
Following the Anegada meeting, this news site sought further clarification from Mr Wheatley on his position on the issue when he said there was a flagrant dereliction of duty on the part of the Governor not to address the Opposition’s concerns in order not to hurt the ruling party during this election period. “So by not wanting to be involved he has become involved by failing to act when it is clear that he should.”
Asked if he was siding with the positions taken by the three members of the opposition, Mr Wheatley said, “I was not convinced by his (hon Walwyn's) reasoning that they provided [service] on an ad-hoc basis and they don’t have any contract signed. Because if you providing a service on a continuous basis all you doing is circumventing the rules to provide that service and it should be quite clear and to say that you providing it on an ad-hoc basis but yet you make over $100,000. That’s complete rubbish and a lot may support him but you cannot support that action. That’s clearly circumventing the rules.”
In the view of Mr Wheatley, the Opposition members' reasoning on the situation is soild. “Absolutely, it doesn’t matter if its elections time or any other time, right is right and wrong is wrong.”
He said while he feels it will not end up that way but if it does reach the level of the court of law then he trusts the court would be impartial and fair in its judgment.
“Let somebody else get that business, let some of the other food providers get that business, we have to let the sun set on the politics of disrespect.”
'Three stoogies'
Sending a strong warning to Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3), Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and Honourable J. Alvin Christopher (R2), who he referred to as "The three stoogies" during one of his campaign meetings where he challenged them not to make any further attempts to attack him, Hon Walwyn said, "I am an attorney at law and I would not put myself in any thing that I cannot defend, but it's about hurting local businesses because if you notice how they operate in the House of Assembly, they ask specific questions so you could call people names in the House so that the other people can turn into haters and believe they making lots of money..."
In subsequent meetings, Hon Walwyn challenged the three Opposition members to meet him at the steps of the courts.

If you really know what dictatorship and communism is you would shut the $&%@ up. You wouldn't be able to post your views on this website if BVI was a communist or dictatorship country.
It is a fact! When they have done wrong he said they were right. Is this how we want our kids to grow up? Having the mentality that they are still right even though they are wrong?
