VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – Seeing the effects of a scaled down Virgin Gorda Easter Fest 2019, the annual parade on Monday, April 22, 2019, was reduced to approximately 10 groups of very small troops in comparison to the large spectacle that was the parade in previous years.

Despite the reduction in size, many persons from across the territory and tourist from around the world lined the route to cheer the revellers on.

Several of the territory's legislators including Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and other government officials were on scene for the festivities.

Minister for Natural resources, Labour and Immigration, Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9) was a reveller in one troop while Junior Minister for Tourism, Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles (AL) was one of the lead singers in the ‘It’s a secret band’ which held down a crowd before and after the parade passed "Mr Nice Guy" along Lee Road.

The parade culminated at the Roy L. O'Neal Festival a few hours before the start of the final night of the Virgin Gorda Easter Festivities.

We need to take a serious look at the competing annual event being held in Tortola that pulls away hundreds of prospective persons who may otherwise attend the VG Easter Celebrations held on a Easter Monday.

The VG Easter Festival has been in effect for around fifty years.

Let us work toward 'One BVI - One People' and support our long-standing cultural activities.
