ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Former calypso monarch Joycelyn M. Searles aka Sistah Joyce was hard-hitting when she emerged on stage in the final performance of the night in the Kings and Queens of Calypso Virtual Review.

Searles, known to be critical of governments, unsurprisingly called out the Andrew A. Fahie-led administration on a few issues, including that none of them was there when it was her time to perform last night, August 4, 2020.

“If he ain't here, he gonna get it along with the rest of them who ain't even got the decency, I don’t care if y’all home watching, at least one or two of you all could come out here, practice your social distancing and support this calypso event,” she said, referring to Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (D7).

“Y’all ought to be ashamed of y’all selves and y’all don’t text my phone explaining nothing,” she said.

It should be noted that Dr Wheatley showed up shortly after to show his support for the entertainers and Sistah Joyce openly thanked him.

Searles also questioned whether Junior Minister for Trade, Honourable Shereen D. Flax Charles (AL), also known as Queen Shereen, who was also a calypsonian would have been present in her capacity as minister had she not been on the lineup.

Searles then went on to commend the former Education Minister Myron M. Walwyn, who lost his seat in the previous General Election, claiming that he never missed a calypso competition.

“I am proud to say tonight, without any apology, Myron Walwyn, he is still my honourable!”

Premier put on blast

Not even Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) was spared.

During her song, “Wha you bawling fah?” she called the Premier to “don’t join the crew, monkey see, monkey do, the things you wanted NDP to do now you got the chance, stand up strong before we have to drain your swamp too.”

She said the leader should do what is best for the country and she will throw her support behind him.

Event

The event saw many performances, such as Queen Makisha, King Paido, Queen Shereen, among others.

The event held online lasted over three hours.

Tired boring old show that she been pumping out for last few years. Maybe persons did not attend because them not like her show but that not occurred to her. Time to quieten down her complaining and to see if she can do a better show next year.

Thanks to all who took the time to perform and thanks to our viewers on person and online.

Now to you Sister Joyce, don’t start any confusion with this petty nonsense and do not cause others to speak badly of some people. We have greater issues to deal with such as unifying us and moving the country forward. Please let us truly remember what freedom means to each of us.

That’s the problem around here. Because u got help from the government you can’t speak out against them? It’s called freedom of speech. Let no one take that from us individually.

Now talk about the palm trees that were recently planted around the place! Who in their right mind thinks the timing of that was right?? In hurricane season, and when the government treasury isn’t getting the income level it would usually see! Huh! When we have more priorities than palm trees. Can we eating them when we are hungry?? VIP it’s time to stop the nonsense unless these palm trees will spout money when we need it.

We will be screwed soon if we don’t pay attention.

Those palm trees wasn’t necessary right now, I can imagine how much one tree cost.

All over you all claiming what was in a budget and what work was already in the pipeline. Seems to me like you all claiming that this government has not put forward any new things but you all are forgetting that government’s carry on. The things that are being done are transformation issues so all legislators (unless there’s an issue) and administrators own them. if any other government gets in the works will continue because they are not party-owned. Get off the horse. We want to see the real problems that the previous government didn’t fix get fixed / that’s the real test.
