Shine I to release 1st album ‘The Foundation’ on Thursday

Shine I's first album goes on sale on Thursday
ROAD TOWN, Following closely on the heels of the launching of Ritical’s single ‘Wishing you the best’, another talented artiste and Virgin Islander- Shine I, born Darius Semper, is to release his first album ‘The Foundation’ on Thursday January 12, 2012.

The album consists of 14 tracks and includes popular songs such as ‘I Got it Bad’, ‘I Know’ and ‘Bright N Morning Star’.

According to Shine I, he sees the album as the start of his music career and persons can expect lots more from him.

The Foundation, he said, is “reminiscent of the principle of Sankofa-going back to move forward. The global crisis created by war; genocide; famine; organized crime; gangs; poverty; and the host of other poisons, can only be conquered with love and unity, for it is only when people begin to sincerely care about each other will they be able to remove their blinders to see and acknowledge the crisis and conceive the strength and courage necessary to stand up and fight against evil and wicked deeds”.

He added that humanity and the Virgin Islands once possessed such humble characteristics but have lost sight of them due to greed and selfishness. “We must return to the foundation.”

The majority of the songs of the album were written solely by Shine I himself, whose character as a father, husband, brother and ‘brethren’ is reflected in the lyrics. He noted that the album was done at a time when he too needed encouragement and hope. “Drawing inspiration from my surroundings, family and friends; lyrics about love, crime, unity, mothers, self-determination and The Almighty reigned in my heavens and ‘The Foundation’ was born.”

“My desire and prayer are for ‘The Foundation’ to be an album that not only entertains but grants hope, inspiration and relaxation to its listeners.”

The tracks have been produced locally by Young Bloodz and Lincoln Ward of Beat Link Productions.

Meanwhile, Shine I plans to have a more colourful launching of the album in March through the form of a concert that would feature a number of local and regional artistes. The event would be themed - Shine I debut album explosion.

The talented Virgin Islander is also looking to have some videos done for some of his songs in time for the March event.

The album goes on sale at Quomar Trading and Mellow Moods Café from Thursday January 12, 2012 and will also be available in stores in St. Thomas and St. Croix from Friday.

As expected Shine I will appear on the Morning Ride Show on Zrod 103.7 FM on Thursday as well.
