Shamori Chinnery remanded for guns & ammo find

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Shamori Chinnery, a St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands (USVI) national who resides in Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Islands, was yesterday August 25, 2014 remanded to prison when he appeared in the Magistrates’ Court, according to the Police Public Relations Department.

Chinnery, on August 22, 2014 was caught with an illegal firearm and ammunition and taken into custody by officers on duty at the Sopher's Hole, West End, Ferry Dock.

Officers from the Royal Virgin islands Police Force (RVIPF) stopped and searched Chinnery when he was found to be in unlawful possession of a Smith & Wesson .40 calibre semi-automatic handgun, several rounds of ammunition and magazines for the weapon.

The firearm was seized and the man was arrested and taken to Road Town Police Station for questioning. He remains in custody until the outcome of police enquiries which resulted in him being slapped with two charges according to Police Public Relations Officer Mr Carl Mason, carrying an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of explosives.

The 26 year old is on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison, Balsum Ghut, until October 17, 2014 when he is expected to return to the Magistrate’s Court.

    Other people were found with guns and aint spend a night in jail.....Some who allegedly used guns to kill are still out here free.

      I agree like the Patner from carrot bay who was arrested for Having a gun was released without no charge ... Tings to talk guess is who you for and who you know ... Only in the bvi mi boy shomari good up your head mi boy things gonna get better....

    Some of you are talking crap!!! The problem with some of us is everything is ok until your family member is killed by one of these idiots or a stray bullet from the gun kills a bystander. Why is this guy walking around with a loaded 40cal semi auto???

    well FYI he will end up jail watch and see. but this is unfair i sure if it was an island man you would have been saying somthing different. dont hold ya breath deal with reality. He's up the ballo hotel.
