Senior Delville honoured by Carrot Bay Cultural Festival

CARROT BAY, Tortola, VI - Alfredo Delville was honoured at last night's Carrot Bay Cultural Fest, for his years of dedication to fishing and commitment to the community of Carrot Bay.

At the official opening for the cultural fest last evening, August 9, 2012, in Carrot Bay, First District Representative, Hon. Andrew A. Fahie said that he admires Mr. Alfredo in everything he does.

He added that Mr. Alfredo is a hard worker and his doings will be remembered in years to come.

In addition to the comment made by Mr. Fahie, Minister for Education and Culture, Hon. Myron V. Walwyn, stated that fishing is a very integral part of Virgin Islands culture and that he is proud to see Carrot Bay Cultural Festival try to keep it alive every year.

The Culture Minister also spoke of children being exposed and involved in cultural activities, for the sake of its survival in years to come.

Last night’s opening featured local fungi band, Razor Blades, Volume Band of St. Thomas and the Spectrum band.

The cultural fest continues later today at 1 p.m., at the festival grounds in Carrot Bay, where patrons would be entertained by donkey races, married men VS Single men tug-of-war and much more.
