San Juan-based Seaborne Airlines has signed a new interline agreement with United Airlines, the company announced this week.

The agreement means customers can now purchase a single ticket for United and Seaborne services, checking baggage at their starting location and connecting to any of Seaborne’s destinations in the Caribbean.

Last year, Seaborne signed a similar agreement with another major US carrier, JetBlue.

Seaborne, which relocated its headquarters from St Croix to San Juan this year following an equity investment by the government of Puerto Rico, has been on a major expansion push in the Caribbean in recent years.

That strengthened after the departure from the region of American Eagle.

The Caribbean carrier operates more than 2,100 monthly departures across the Caribbean.
