SDA School overcome St George’s for place in BD C/ship Game

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Both St George’s Primary and Seventh-day Adventists School will know their Championship opponents when the 6th Annual BD Basketball Inter Primary Tournament concludes the playoffs this Saturday, February 27, 2016 in the Multi Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town.

The pair clashed on Thursday February 25, 2016 for a place in the Final on Tuesday March 1, with SDA winning 47-44, meaning St George’s face a third/fourth place game against the loser in the playoff game between Enis Adams Primary and Pelican Gate/Isabella Morris combined team.

Seventh-day Adventists School will face the winner.

Despite a double double from Kyron Walwyn, the SDA team used a strong final period to overwhelm their opponents, outscoring them by 10 points to secure the victory and their place in the final.

Lenique Austrie notched 12 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists to lead the SDA charge, whilst Dillon Smith scored 10 points, 6 rebounds 4 steals and D’Mari Parillon, 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.

For St George’s, Walwyn finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals and Xilomar Gunn 9 points and 5 steals.

The action on Saturday begins at 10am with Ivan Dawson Primary playing Willard Wheatley Primary and Althea Scatliffe Primary facing Francis Lettsome Primary. Then at 10.30am Pelican Gate/IMPS will take on Enis Adams Primary for a place in the Final.
