Scotiabank encourages shift towards online/mobile banking
As part of the event, customers and visitors to the bank were treated to drinks and snacks and given the chance to win attractive prizes, all meant to encourage customers to use the new facilities.
In addition to the food and drink, there was entertainment provided by the Long Trench Band and the Shooting Stars.
“Based on our push towards alternative channels and customer migration to the alternative concepts we decided to couple that with the Christmas spirit and trying to give back. So we came up with the concept of the digital Santa and a digital customer appreciation day whereby as customers use the ATM or sign up for online banking, they can have a chance to win vouchers at popular business places... There will be a grand prize drawing of a phone later,” Scotiabank BVI Branch Manager Ryan L. Best told this news site earlier today.
There were organisers, diaries, mugs and a tablet in addition to a few other phones on offer for winning and giveaway, courtesy of LIME BVI.
Home Finance Specialist & Auto Finance Specialist at Scotiabank BVI, Olanzo A. Boynes said the gifts are geared to encourage online banking.
“We want to help direct the customer more towards ATM and going online,” said Boynes.
Best said the app is secure as there are all the internet security passwords that are required for use of the app. And he noted too that phones have locks that shut out anyone who is not the rightful owner.
“It is secure. It is an award winning mobile app regionally and internationally. We are trying to push it by encouraging customers to use the technology and we are embracing that with trying to give back to the community that supports us as well,” he said.

traditional banking in person is nice. Though its nicer if you have billions instead of thousands to play with...
