WICKHAMS CAY, Tortola, VI – Scores of people came out to take part in the annual kite flying jamboree in Wickhams Cay hosted by the Association of Guyanese Living in the Virgin Islands (VI) yesterday April 21, 2014.
The event was one that saw families and young and old enjoying a day of traditional Easter Monday kite flying signifying the risen Saviour.
There were games for the children, bouncy castles, mini motorbike rides and lots of food and drinks in attendance. The event later had a segment in which kites were adjudged for being the most colourful, largest, smallest and other categories. One man said that his kite was four years old but it was not clear whether there was a category for the oldest kite.
Persons had a chance to win prizes for wearing the most patriotic dress at the event depicting national colours.
The event was sponsored by a number of corporate entities including LIME, Riteway, Nagico, Quality Machines, Hon Mark H. Vanterpool and One Mart.
