SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI - General Manager of Nanny Cay Resort and Marina, Miles Sutherland-Pilch has assured that as many persons from the Sea Cows Bay as possible will get maximum opportunities for jobs during the just started expansion project at Nanny Cay.

Sutherland-Pilch in speaking with this news site yesterday July 14, 2015 explained that they have structured the distribution of the works in such a way that the contract was not given to any ‘one’ contractor leaving them to sub-contract at their own leverage.

“Because of the fact that we don’t have no one contractor dealing with the whole thing, we are working with different contractors sub-contracting up the projects,” he said.

Already they have some six trucking contracts out. “So there are all different individuals benefiting from the economic aspect of just the building of this stage.”

According to Mr Sutherland-Pilch they have taken into consideration all the businesses in the Nanny Cay area to ensure that they too reap economic benefits. “As we go further on all the businesses in Nanny Cay will be benefiting… there would be other businesses that would be needing to be set up here.”

He said that for especially the surrounding area of Nanny Cay the economic impact will be very good. “Almost all our truckers at this time are from the Sea Cow’s Bay area. Six right now, we’ve got others in reserve. At times we would be speeding up the production from the quarry.”

It was explained that the start-up of the expansion is one that is being done slowly as they are trying to first get comfortable.

“We are trying to make as few mistakes as possible and just slowly feeling out our way and doing it right as well,” Sutherland-Pilch explained.

The expansion project got off the ground last week Thursday July 9, 2015 and despite they have already walked into some stumbling blocks to the extent of the project being halted to address environmental issues, Nanny Cay’s management is sure that progress will continue at a comfortable pace.
