Handbags remain at the top of the list of items stolen from motor vehicles and from tabletops and chairs, in crowded bars or on benches at sporting and entertainment facilities.
“While Police are increasing their visibility during the holiday season, it is still very difficult to prevent these types of crimes if owners do not take personal responsibility,” the release pointed out.
Vehicle parts such as grills, rims as well as stereos speakers and licence stickers are also becoming popular items for thieves and in recent times, entire car wheels have been removed, leaving vehicles on cement blocks especially when left for days unattended in parking lots around the airport or at the ferry docks.
