Rugby Association seeking funds for trip to Mexico
The Association has admitted that it is also seeking a new vehicle, which is needed despite all the recent traumatic weather events that destroyed most of the infrastructure on the Virgin Islands (VI), to enable them to carry on with training on the island and also to replace apparatus and kit that were destroyed.
The plea for funding, when most people in the Territory are scrap enough money together for daily survival includes a note that “It has been extremely satisfying to watch the community come together and participate within our project--to include all ethnic backgrounds and ages. It has been even more satisfying to see some of the new players who only joined a few weeks ago due to the hurricane to be selected for the international squad and will be attending our next competition in Mexico next month."
The Association has also announced they are currently coaching in some of the schools on the island which will enable them to form an academy.
However, the gist of their recent published request for funding centres around the fact they have many upcoming international events in which they will be partaking in and urgently need to train for.
As the Association stated, “In order to facility this training we are asking for donations to raise money to enable us to continue as a registered charity. It has been incredible to see how sport can bring a community together in a time of disrepair and heartache, hopefully we can continue this together. Therefore we welcome any donation--even if it is minimal.”
