RTW Group raises $10K for BVI Diabetes Association

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Challenging themselves with the BVI Half Marathon run on Sunday, November 30, 2019, Roadtown Wholesale group of companies, along with 75 participants from the NorthWest Company, managed to raise some $10,000 for the BVI Diabetes Association.

Representing the Virgin Islands was Managing Director Mr Guy Strickland, Financial Comptroller Mr Dennis Versoza and the $10,000 donation was raised through a television raffle and donation from RTW where the funds were recently handed over to the BVI Diabetes Association.

“RTW is very proud of the hard work done by the BVI Diabetes Association. We are very happy to be able to show our support in this way” stated Guy Strickland in a release from the company.

'Funds will go a long way' - Ms Jean Vanterpool 

President of the BVI Diabetes Association, Mrs Jean Vanterpool, in receiving the donation, expressed her gratitude to RTW for choosing to support the BVI Diabetes Association. 

She noted that the donation will go towards efforts to provide assistance for those in need within the community.

"The funds would go a long way in helping to raise awareness and advocate for a healthy lifestyle is the beginning of combatting non-communicable diseases and ultimately limiting their effects on the community," Ms Vanterpool said, according to the release.

    Instead of trying to cure people who have diabetes, perhaps educate the people who can still avoid it. You know, stop eating hamburgers and fried chicken every day.
