SCRUB ISLAND, VI – Guests wore dazzling colours, the ambience was festive, money flowed, and in the end over $70,000 was netted at the Rotary Club of Tortola Latin Fiesta Ball on Saturday March 3, 3012 on Scrub Island.

The Latin theme drew out the creativity of both male and female guests with even the Territory’s Premier, Dr. D. Orlando Smith, sporting a very colourful bowtie.

“The best way to describe the evening is superb,” declared the club’s President Brian Liverpool. “We were well supported and I am pleased to say that we got over $70,000 from the Latin fiesta affair coupled with the auction. I can’t give you a final figure as yet until the Treasurer tallies up everything.”

He also noted that 131 tickets were purchased for the gala.

Some of the irresistible prizes that were bided on included a dinner for eight to be hosted by Dr. Smith and his wife at their McNamara residence; a London getaway; an elegant dinner for 10 aboard BVI Flagged Resolute; a cosmetic procedure at the Bougainvillea Clinic, among others.

The music and food were inspired by the Latin American countries with the proceeds from the ball and auction to benefit special needs and youth development groups.
