ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Word reaching our newsroom is that Acting Deputy Governor Rosalie Adams will be assuming the office of Acting Governor from tomorrow, August 27, 2016.

Adams, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Premier's Office, was recently named Acting Deputy Governor for a month, a story first and accurately reported by this news site.

She had assumed duties as Acting Deputy Governor on August 8, 2016, an appointment that succeeded Permanent Secretary, Mr David D. Archer’s acting appointment from June 2 to July 31, 2016. The present Deputy Governor, Mrs V. Inez Archibald, CBE is on leave.

Efforts to get confirmation from the Governor’s Office were unsuccessful; however, this newsroom was able to reach Mrs Adams late this afternoon and received confirmation.

“Well yes, as of tomorrow I will be the acting Governor,” Mrs Adams said when asked if the reports were true.

She noted too that her appointment will be for three weeks.

Mrs Adams was promoted to the post of Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2004 and confirmed as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Development in 2005. She also served as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Works from 2006 to 2007 and Permanent Secretary, Premier’s Office from October 2007 to March 2011. She was Interim Acting Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office from January 2012 to December 2013.

The soon to be Acting Governor joined the Public Service in 1968 and taught at various public schools throughout the Territory. She served as Guidance and Counseling Officer until 1993 and was transferred to the Department of Education and Culture where she served as an Education Officer from 1999 to 2004.  She also served as a lecturer at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

Strupes...this is the best we could do❗️ This woman is barely physically able. There are so many more suitably qualified younger more dynamic and certainly more brilliant people they could have given this post too. Please stop bringing back these relics of the past.

I recall the days when the only time you heard or seen the governor was at Her Majesty's Birthday Parades...

Archer Boy, it seems like you're not at that age, or retired yet, to be considered for the NDP's Recycling Program. Sorry!

Really? What is going on in the BVI? Rosalie Adams served her time. Let the woman stay home and enjoy her golden years. She has absolutely nothing to offer. Did governor Duncan approved thus appointment? If so, he is more lame than I thought. Geraldine, now Rosalie. Both totally unsuitable. What the f*** is the BVI coming to.

Barry said you will hear. When the fulness of time time is come, all will be made plain. It is so sad some of us truly lack vision. Keep quiet and keep firing. By time you realize what's going on, it will be too late. Let the women do her job.
