Road racing season kicks off on VG on Sat. Jan 19!

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- With Virgin Gorda resident and 2012 top runner Maxford Pipe straining at the leash, the 2013 road racing campaign swings into action on Saturday January 19, 2013 with the 4th annual Dive BVI 5K Run/Walk Series on Virgin Gorda.

Pipe, who claimed the HLSCC VG Series Championship and has already considered the challenge of running at Paraquita Bay this year, will be tuning up during the 5K runs for the 10k series that follows. The Dive BVI 10K Series then leads to the 2nd Virgin Gorda Half Marathon, on May 18.

Saturday’s race starts at the HLSCC parking lot. Runners will turn around at Guavaberry Villas and head back to the start/finish line.

Registration begins at 6 A.M. with the race starting at 6:30 A.M. There will be prizes for speed, consistency and improvement at the end of the series.

In other track news

The 2013 Track and Field Developmental Series is well on its way and the BVIAA is urging all clubs to set up their online registration account to be able meet the registration deadlines for all upcoming meets.

All Teams must be registered to participate and the process is a one-time action that allows access to all future meets.

Registration has already opened for the Tahesia Harrigan-Scott Classic on Friday Jan 25 with a 5.30 P. M. start time. Registration closes Tuesday January 22.

Meet #3- Saturday February 9, 2013 (previously was scheduled for 2nd February)

Registration opens on Monday January 28 and closes on Tuesday February 5.

Multi-Event Meet (CAC AGE GROUPS ONLY) - Athletes are required to participate in all events in their age division.
