Riley narrowly misses College Classic Series record!

PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) College Classic Series 2-mile record narrowly survived an onslaught by Neil Riley when Race 3 was held at the Paraquita Bay campus on Saturday, October 12, 2019.

Riley, already the second fastest man on the 2-mile course, blazed the trail to finish in a time of 10:31.28, just .32 seconds off the one-year-old record of Clifton Struiken, 10:30.96.

Battling for a distant second were Jelani Croal and Reuben J. A. Stoby, with Croal (11:44.97) getting the better of Stoby (11:46.92) in another sprint finish between the two in this series.

Wins for Lindsay & Gillings

On the distaff side, Katrina Lindsay ran unchallenged to win in 12:23.81. Second was Rosmond Johnson in 14:33.34 and third was Lia Claxton in 14:48.44.

The one-mile race continued to be a keen tussle between Othniel Gillings and Charlie Potgieter, with Gillings (6:52) edging Potgieter at the finish line.

Gillings has won two races while Potgieter has one win.

The series concludes on Tortola on November 2, 2019.
