ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – On August 19, 2015 police arrested and charged Reynaldo Hewlett, 33, of Brewers Bay for alleged burglary. This is just a few months after he was given a second chance at returning to society to complete drug rehabilitation and lead a life as a valuable citizen of society.

Previously the young Hewlett had spent some time in prison as he had stolen $10, a ginger ale and a ginger beer. What he is accused of allegedly stealing this time around is not known to this news site as no further information as it relates to his arrest was made known in the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force’s most recent arrest blotter.

Hewlett, in March of 2015, was sent to join the Drug Rehabilitation Unit of Peebles Hospital on the recommendation of Senior Magistrate Tamia N. Richards who had expressed her deepest hope of seeing him getting a grip on his life as she noted his level of intelligence and his willingness to access rehabilitation.

Back in March Ms Richards, through the court of law, collaborated with Peebles Hospital via Dr June Samuels to have Hewlett attend the facility, which he completed over a three-week period.

He had later returned to the court where it was reported that he was deemed fit to return to his family as he continued rehabilitation. Hewlett's father, Mr Paul A. Hewlett had stood up in the court and expressed that as a father he had loved his child and wanted nothing but to see him rehabilitate.

He had, however, noted that it was incumbent on his son to cooperate with his family in the process of the rehabilitation and to stay away from certain elements that could negatively influence him.

It is not clear when Mr Hewlett will have his day in court.

some of us or child would have been in jail from the very first criminal offence: we still have a society in which based on who you for, determines your fate

Poor thing he came and got an application for a job the other day. So he went jail for 10$ an a ginger ale eh. That person couldn't just give him that?? Then tell he to come do some little work about the place?? He probably was hungry. Or trying to support his habit but he needs special help not jail time.

Invest time and attention in your kids when they are young or you will invest money and heartbreak when they are older. This is so sad he needs help.

Tortola people are so Heartless. Do you people know the meaning of mental illness. I decree and declare that all you who have evil in your heart and spew these evil comments against your brother man that your turn will come. Just sit and wait to hear the downfall of each other. Why should his parents be ashamed if something is wrong mentally with their child. You people are the ones that need help. A set of sick bastards. May your words return to you 100 folds. And I don't know who this man is and I don't know who his parents are, but I know mental illness.
