ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Standing room only was the order that prevailed on the sidelines of Waterfront Drive yesterday, August 6, 2012, as Virgin Islanders and tourists alike thronged to the parade route in their numbers to witness the Annual August Monday Parade in Road Town.

Troupe members numbering in the hundreds, both young and not so young, came out to march along the Parade route in an array of lively and colourful costumes. They danced and shook themselves in ecstasy to the sounds of sweet music, including that of the popular and evergreen Showtime Band, whose track “Shake the bottle” was ubiquitous along the route.

Heading up the parade were a number of senior and junior pageant winners and participants, including the recently crowned Ms BVI 2012, Ms. Sharie deCastro.

Some of the troupes participating in the Parade included the U'neek Dancers, Moko Jumbies and Anasazi Dancers.

As promised, there was a specially inserted tent along the route to accommodate senior citizens who wished to participate in the parade in comfort and shade.

The troupes were judged at two separate booths along the parade route and ended at the Claudette “Boopie” Smith Festiville.

It was a shame the children had to see the antics of the people in the Delta Petroleum troupe, the actions were vulgar to say the least, depicting having sex on the road, they certainly didnt act like young ladies. This was a family event, was highly inappropriate for a business such as Delta to have people acting like that. Apart from that the parade was very good, all other troupes did a great job.
