Rename Drakes Highway in honour of H.L. Stoutt – Hon Andrew A. Fahie
Further, he said that today's generation could safely say “thank you” to H. Lavity Stoutt for allowing God to use him so that future generations could benefit from the fruits of his labour.
“In his earlier days he may have been looked at by some as a nobody but that so called nobody as referred to by only a few, completed his assignment before its due date with such distinction that today he is known as somebody, whose life was led by God and touched everybody,” said Honourable Fahie.
He was speaking at the memorial service and recital held in memory of H. Lavity Stoutt yesterday March 7, 2016 at the Road Town Methodist Church.
Honourable Fahie cited the H. Lavity Community College, which he said the late former Chief Minister birthed with assistance from many persons. “Today H.L. Stoutt Community College continues to touch everybody in a positive way,” he said.
H.L Stoutt Highway?
“Drakes' Highway which in my opinion should be renamed H.L. Stoutt Highway, takes us from West End to Road Town daily and vice versa while allowing us to enjoy the breathtaking view of our Virgin Islands coastline, sea water and sister islands,” he said, adding that this accomplishment continues to impact everybody in a positive way.
Hon Fahie thanked the family of H. Lavity Stoutt for sharing him over the years before his passing, Honourable Ralph T. O'Neal OBE for listening to the voice of the people during his administration in making the day a National Holiday in remembrance of this modern day hero of the Virgin Islands.
He also thanked all past and present administrations for continuing to celebrate the holiday in remembrance of the great legacy of the territory's first Chief Minister.
Honourable Fahie called on persons to find their life's God-given purpose and said it is only then that they will be fulfilling the legacy left by the late H. Lavity Stoutt.

It is a slippery slope, we have Watley, and we have JR On'eal botanical gardens, but he started that.
I'm not sure a highway is needed.
Rename the highway for someone that made a valuable and noteworthy contribution to the VI in the area of transportation preferably. Sir Francis Drake Highway does not connect to local consciousness. How does Drake relate to the local population, having been a SLAVE TRADER? And while we are at it, rename Drake Channel for a seafaring local captain. Surely, there are deserving ones.---Smith, Romney, Norman, Stoutt, Lettsome, Penn, Leonard, Thomas, Chalwell, Frett, Donovan, Hodge, Fahie, Malone.......etc.
Blackburn Highway, who he? That got to go
Queen Elizabeth II Park -- that got to go
Sopher's Hole -- whose name is that?
Major Peebles, what he did? Must be pee on all the rebels.
It is time to write our history and make it plain for all to see
