Reds & Pythons clinch ‘Big Man’ Playoff Spots

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – As the Weekends action in the Berth ‘Big Man’ Henley Fast Pitch Softball League wrapped up, the Reds claimed two wins to secure a post season as did the unbeaten Pythons.

Games began on Friday with the Pythons defeating the ESHS Rams 21-6. The Pythons had 21 runs, 7 hits, 6 errors and left 2 runners on base, whilst the ESHS Rams had 6 runs, 3 hits, 10 errors and left 4 runners on base.

The winning pitcher was Chevaunne Richardson and the loser was Javlyn Frett. Richardson and Jelissa Potter each went 2-3 with 3 runs scored and 2 runs batted in.

Shoniqua Fahie of Rams went 2-2 with 2 runs scored and a run batted in.

The Reds then defeated the Pirates 11-10. Reds had 11 runs, 10 hits, 4 errors and left 5 runners on base. Pirates had 10 runs, 9 hits, 4 errors and left 5 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Dariel Robinson and the loser was Allen Smith.

Marlon Richardson of Reds went 1-2 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in and Sylvester Johnson went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and a run batted in. Nateshon Thomas of Pirates went 3-4 with 2 home runs, 2 runs scored and 5 runs batted in and Derwin Scatliffe went 1-2 with a home run and 2 runs batted in.

On Saturday, the Hawks defeated Lady Crushers 15-2. Hawks had 15 runs, 11 hits, 0 errors and left 5 runners on base.

Rams had 2 runs, 4 hits, 5 errors and left 5 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Perline Scatliffe-Leonard and the loser was Wanda Walters. Michelle Georges of Hawks went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in and Khiayah Doward went 2-4 with a triple, a home run, 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in.

Power Outage defeated Blue Wings 17-7. Power Outage had 17 runs, 9 hits, 7 errors and left 6 runners on base. Blue Wings had 7 runs, 9 hits, 2 errors and left 5 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Joseph Smith and the loser was Alfred Maduro. Jeremy Penn of Power Outage went 4-4 with a single, a double, a triple, a home run, 3 runs scored and 6 runs batted in and Levron Saurauw went 1-3 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in. George Burrows of Blue Wings went 2-3 with a home run and 3 runs batted in.

On Sunday the Pythons defeated West End Warriors 12-1. Pythons had 12 runs, 8 hits, 2 errors and left 5 runners on base. West End Warriors had 1 run, 0 hits, 5 errors and left 3 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Sheniqua Fahie and the loser was Daphne Smith. Ivy Cameron and Jelissa Potter of Pythons each had 2 hits, scored 2 runs and knocked in 2.

And then to conclude the weekend the Reds defeated Power Outage 9-7. Reds had 9 runs, 10 hits, 3 errors and left 6 runners on base. Power Outage had 7 runs, 5 hits, 5 errors and left 5 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Dariel Robinson and the loser was Neville Smith. Kyle LaMotta and Akim Francis of Reds each had 2 hits and knocked in 3 runs. Jamarlie James of Power Outage had a home run and knocked in 3 runs.
 
Tonight the Hawks play the West End Warriors at 7pm, whilst on Friday the Lady Crushers take on the Hawks followed by the Blue Wings against Power Outage.

      I think that the ESHS girls (RAMS) did very well, for most of them it was their first time playing softball. We need to continue to encourage these young ladies for they are going to carry on this tradition and are making positive role models for others. I hope the school continues to get the support that they need. And Chinnery aka Chino, congrats although they did not win they have good potential, keep up the good work and god bless you for working with the youths.ok. I think that this team needs to be applauded for the good work they give the others something to think about next year cause they coming stronger.

        the eshs girls are to damn lazy..for young girls come on man..they need better coaching too and trainers..its embarrisng watching them play and they are on the field every day..not sugar coating anything..just would like to see them be more competitive!

    why are all the best girls playing on that team in black, that's not fear to the sport if woman softball wants to grow..just check out volley ball and u will see that killed it!
