A Major Reason why we continue to give over 20-Book Scholarships per year:

Slave descendants have the highest level of Information Retention in the World and while that should be a Blessing we have allowed it to become a Curse… This all started when Masters learnt the best way to rule us was to fool us and their greatest method was to block us from learning to Read & Write so as to prevent us accessing independent information & knowledge.

Their actions were reinforced with harsh punishment and it became imperative that we retained & followed their verbal Instructions & Indoctrinations without question or risk being beaten to death… Consequently, real Threats & empty Promises were implanted so deeply that we remain programmed to pass these to our Children & their Children rather than seek our own Knowledge.

In this way we form a Class of willing Victims where Parents defend the same Systems designed to destroy them… As a result the old condemn themselves and it’s left to the very Young – Black & White – to oppose Racism & Injustices such as the blatant Law Enforcement Malpractice linked to the shooting death of unarmed Michael Brown & choke hold death of Eric Garner.

Moreover, a little research will show that such behavior is not new – in the US it is estimated that every day a Black Youth is shot by White Law Enforcement and Blacks still blame themselves for this unfair persecution… You may even be one of those seeking to silence me from speaking out against Injustice - You like saying how God will punish the Wicked but you never say when.

Our People need to read, reason & recognize Right from Wrong so they may stop being Mules for carry-over lessons of Slavery & Colonialism and this is why we give Book Scholarships… Clearly we can find better Answers by asking ourselves, what would others think of us avoiding Reality & clinging to Fantasy?... Will they regard us as Positive Forces or Negative Examples?

After all, Oppressors know their actions are wrong but they wonder if we truly know; especially when they see us in Africa & the Caribbean still shackled to the mal-Doctrines of their long dead Ancestors… Furthermore, why blame them if our own thoughts & actions make us easy to be fooled, ruled & disposed of without consideration or consequence - We are our own Enemy.

And, while these words may seem harsh, even leaders of White Churches that were created to support Slave Owners now admit that African-American brothers & sisters - especially brothers - are more likely to be arrested, executed & killed… In fact some call for stopping this degradation of African Descendants by broken Justice Systems but many more still see it as nothing wrong.

What happens there can happen here:

Again, what can we expect when we join them in this denial instead of being worried that our own propensity to follow fashion and the absence of Good Leaders have already seen this Black on Black injustice adopted in Africa and potentially can easily reach the BVI… In fact some of us are already experiencing severe lapses & undue punishment from these Streams of Injustice.

If elected Leaders represent the continued best interest of their People instead of just pandering to them one out of every four years there would be no need for protests & marches in order to be recognized as a People of value… Unfortunately, rather than provide help, Leaders use these Systems of Authority to hinder & murder until their People are forced into Civil Disobedience.

We see this when America and other Nations allow perceived Injustices to reach such extremes that the oppressed People are driven to extremes in order to survive… Unfortunately, such actions often lead to more pain so I try to avoid this by informing you so you may convince Leaders to do the right things within their Offices – Some efforts are easy while some are hard.

Example: While on my way to entertain the Elderly at ‘the Home’ I noticed a large sign on a new Building referred to as “Peebles Hospital” – Sadly, this is wilfully & totally wrong and should be corrected immediately to prevent misleading our own People and Visitors to our Country…

They know Mr. Peebles had nothing to do with the concept or construction of this New Building.

And for you who may not know, let us step back around 20-years ago to where the UK’s offer to finance the addition of a Crazy Ward to the real Peebles Hospital expired and they later got our Leaders to agree to a Facelift for the existing Hospital… Around this time I became Minister of Health just before this Agreement was signed and decided to take a closer look at the Proposal.

After listening & researching the matter it appeared that the Proposal failed to address the Future Needs of our People and the Renovation would cost us far too much especially since the UK was only financing the Study… I refused to agree and began the Process of acquiring a New Hospital for the People of the BVI and having the Existing Hospital used as Clinics & Related Offices.

Thanks for the Quiet Power of You the People in the New Hospital:

Records will show there was not a single Legislator who agreed with me and there was even talk of suing me for my position on the matter… As you know I did not back down - I rejected UK’s Agenda and personally set about securing required lands and even started clearing the Area after my Colleagues created stumbling blocks or refused to assist in procuring suitable property.

Resistance was fierce but so was my determination and the New Hospital Project finally made it to the National Budget - we were on our way… Unfortunately, I was removed from the Ministry with no reason given and in the following Budget, Funding for the New Hospital was reduced to little or nothing - Monies appeared to be redirected to UK’s Agenda or squandered elsewhere.

This was a blow - For all purposes my Project appeared to be a lost cause and those in Parliament can verify that neither Mr. Peebles nor Legislators exhibited any interest in this becoming reality. – However, as you know I still refused to give up and finally you the People understood the Vision and intensified the Fight to the point where the Blockers ran out of arguments & excuses.

Thanks to you, our New Hospital Project survived… Unfortunately, delays, mismanagement, posturing, NHIS Schemes and recent talk of tripling Patient Fees are now threatening to render it unaffordable & unsustainable… This is contrary to my intent and although they would rather die than name it after me it should remain focused on providing the intended Care & Compassion.

It has taken almost 20-years and would never have survived without Public Backing & Efforts of You the People – not Mr. Peebles - and should be named for you – “The BVI Public Hospital”.

PS:… I will continue addressing some of your Questions & Comments on Live BVP Radio Programs

It is also sad to see how quickly people forget history. Taken in the context of the times, a huge majority of BVIslander at the time would have approved of these techniques used against Mr. frett.
