Really Uptown seeking rematch, horse was tired – L&B Stables
Speaking exclusively with Virgin Islands News Online, Michael W. Hodge expressed that the horse’s loss was entirely due to tiredness and stated that the horse will run again soon.
“There is so much talk going on you don’t even know what to do… the horse is good… he tried,” Hodge stated about Uptown’s performance in the race.
He said although people might be speculating and saying things outside of the L&B stables camp, those on the inside know that there was nothing wrong with the horse.
According to Hodge “the jockey said the horse got tired coming down the stretch.” He denied that the horse was overworked during training before the race and noted that the horse remained in good shape.
He also hinted that the jockey’s position might be on the line following the loss but he could not comment on the issue as the team had not made a decision on the issue so far.
Hodge also indicated that the horse is likely to next be on show in June at Ellis Thomas Downs in Sea Cows Bay, Tortola where the team is expecting to have a rematch with the horses involved in the Governor’s Cup race.
