ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - After being fooled with broken promises about jobs and educational opportunities, it is clear that the youths across the Territory now have a passion to take back the country and vote the National Democratic Party (NDP) out of office.

To this end a group of like-minded persons between the ages of 18 and 35 from the Virgin Islands have come together in strong support of the Opposition Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

The group is named ‘Ready Committee’ because they are ready to rally around the VIP and advocate for the needs of the Territory’s youths on issues such as meaningful jobs, educational opportunities, and support in becoming entrepreneurs.

The Ready Committee hosted a formal meeting on January 17, 2015.

The youth group, which is already 40 members strong and growing with members including the sister islands, will be announcing some fundraising events shortly and will also be hosting a press conference so other youths and the public can be informed of the Youth group’s aims, goals and objectives.

The Ready Committee’s slogan is ‘ONE DIRECTION: FORWARD!’ and part of its mandate and vision is to give the youths of the Virgin Islands a platform where their voices can be heard.

It is also the mission of the group to assist the Virgin Islands Party with its youth empowerment initiatives.

Mr Rajah A. Smith, a young businessman, youth leader and political activist, is the group’s current President and a founding member of the organisation.

Mr. Smith said, “As young Virgin Islanders, it’s time to take a stand in our country, and be around the table when decisions are made on our behalf, as the youths are the ones that knows what's best for us.”

The Youth Leader, who is seeking the VIP nomination in the Congress to be an At-Large candidate in the next general elections, said, “we are here not only as supporters of the VIP, but movers of a generation.”

When contacted, Smith told this news site that while the VIP has always had a functioning youth arm, he saw the need to bring into being a separate entity with a national scope and mandate. “I want to say that the Virgin Islands Party always had a youth arm but I just went out and put a national group together which will support the party,” he said.

Further, he said that at the group’s upcoming press conference, they would explain all of the initiatives and programmes that they have planned and how persons could become involved.

The esteemed Julian Willock will serve as an adviser to the group. You can look forward to seeing members of the Ready Committee as they host community meetings, public discussions, fundraisers and other events throughout the Territory.

For more information about becoming a member you can call Mr. Smith at 340-1546 or Email the Ready Committee at; readycommitteevip@gmail.com.

Everybody just looking seat, my whole thing is if you had an idea on how to make the BVI better, why you couldnt set it up with the current government? no you want to get in to prove your point! nah bruh, yall need to stop. lets work together, all yall government officials does be smiling up with each other at events but yall cant put yall heads together and make the place better with yall so call brilliant ideas.... I dont see the sense other than to waste tax payers money putting VIP in cause they will ignore all the existing projects NDP currently pursuing just like they did the hospital....dont be fooled virgin islanders, an administration can't do all that needs to be done in one year, i know the struggle is real, but hold on, nothing happens over night, all VIP wan to do is give hand outs, and the people so accustom to that, that now NDP probablly aint giving it out like that, because they actually trying to improve the place, everyone bawling... come out of that! wise up and hold on yow...give the people them a chance, things are actually getting done. you want to put back in a government who drive out ocean conversation ( a VI company) to bring in an international company, why them dont show ayo that bill them got to pay bi water with or without bvi people using their water. hmmm that will be thing to tell the king... them waste money put up stop light around round about, all that is fraser doing and them put he as premier..hmm what respect to you give a man who allow a man to disrespect his father ( R. smith) ..hmm wise up.. now them got he up and down the place as a puppet talking bout youth, fooling the youth them, lord help us...wise up VI people wise up.. i done for tonight,

Lord, I am so afraid and scared of VIP, remember the days when I couldn`t drive my car because my work permit wasn't ready, I had to beg a ride to drop my wife and my kids who are all BVIslanders to work and to school, Sorry for we Island people, now NDP want to take everything we work for, Visa gone up, work permit gone up, exemption gone up. hmmmmm, Let me remind them, I cannot `t vote but my wife and children are BVIslanders, that's a lot of votes. I live in Belle Vue, gash, its like every day current out---People vote in new government because they need things to change, wants a new direction. If people vote to keep the same government in they are satisfied with the direction the country going.. . We who need a visa to visit the BVI to see our Caribbean brothers and sisters its so difficult, can`t there be an easier way? How difficult is it to find away to have residents who are sponsors of the visa applicant to submit and process visa applications here. Help! We are all Africans, show us some love and some mercy

I judge people by their ideas, their actions and their execution not by NDP or VIP. I like the NHI and the Pension plan Idea---- that's looking out for people---- However myy boss that makes million in profit yearly refused to put his staff on the pension plan and its like nothing the government can do. Why?--- Under VIP government we never had this much power outage. Why now?

Citizens United indeed, good idea VIP youths. The NDP needs to understand that their 3 years in office shows they did nothing whatever for what the citizens of the BVI wants or truly need of what is beneficial to the people of this BVI but for the pass three years it shows the NDP serving its corporate masters and dem own pockets.

I know age is just a number but after 34-35 your not considered a youth. Maybe the "aged peeps" are leaders to the youths, come on. Got to have a leader....
