Queen Elizabeth Park II passed its first test - deCastro
Speaking on his radio programme Night Talk, which was aired on December 13, 2011, deCastro said that he spoke to several persons including the Public Relations Officer of the BVI Health Services Authority about the recent concert and related that persons don’t seem to have a problem with events being held there on a regular basis.
Persons have long been expressing the view that the area, where the concert that featured John Legend and Ali Campbell was held, should be developed to host more activities including those of the August Festival.
“I wanted to know that because there is no complaints in the hospital and the employees and patients were not seriously affected then there is no reason why the Queen Elizabeth II Park cannot be used more often. This is the first test."
The National Parks Trust (NPT) had said that money raised from the recent Concert Series would lead to the phased and incremental restoration (of the QE II Park) in 2012. “We anticipate the legacy of our 50 year celebrations will enable the rehabilitation and restoration of the Queen Elizabeth II Park and we expect to be able to make that park one of the territory’s premier green spaces and a huge attraction for residents and visitors alike,” Director of National Parks Trust, Joseph Smith- Abbott had previously said.
