DUFFS BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- Defending champions Bayside Blazers have been dethroned by Pure Playaz in the 2019 Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League.

With the championship series leveled 1-1, Pure Playaz, thanks to a stellar performance from Khalid S. Gerald and Ray D. Victor, defeated Bayside Blazers 117-92 at the Save the Seed Energy Center in Duffs Bottom, Tortola, this evening, November 23, 2019.

Pure Playaz trailed by 6 points at the half, 49-55, but rallied in the last two quarters to take the lead and never looked back.

Gerald, who was instrumental in Pure Playaz bouncing back after losing the first game of the best of three championships, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Two of the Pure Playaz team members, Steve E. Parillon and Lyle W. Duggins have added another Hon Fraser League championship to their collection while the victory ended a 14-year championship drought for an elated Pure Playaz Coach, Sheldon N. Matthews.

It was also sweet revenge for Pure Playaz who lost in the 2018 Championships against the same opponents.
