Prince stars for Under The Tree; Cavaliers humiliated!
In Division One, Island Stars batted first in the Eliminator Play Off against Under the Tree and posted a more than respectable 171 all out, thanks to an innings of 59 from Wayne Phillip.
Lenroy Murray added 25 late on, whilst Sessie Ells finished with 4 for 23 and Colin Ollivierre 3 for 14.
However, despite the loss of 3 early wickets, Prince set about chasing the target with common sense and plenty of patience, adding an unbroken 4th wicket stand of 129 with Franklyn James, who finished 26 not out.
Fittingly, Prince saw his team to victory with a boundary that also brought up his first ever century, which included 11 fours and 7 sixes. “I feel excellent, my first ever 100 and it feels great. We executed our plans right from the start, we stayed focused and it worked out well in the end,” he said.
Under the Tree now meet Virgin Gorda on Sunday May 1, 2016, for a place in the final against RTW, whilst the Island Stars have been knocked out.
“You have to expect it to be an excellent game, Virgin Gorda will in no way be a push over and we will have to play our best cricket to reach the final,” noted Man of the Match, Prince.
Vincy humiliate Cavaliers
Prince’s heroics though paled in comparison with what unfolded in the Premier Division encounter between the Cavaliers and Vincy C.C.
Invited to bat first, only Vishal Bharat reached double figures (25) as the Cavaliers were skittled out for just 63 inside 12 overs by consistent and accurate bowling, backed up by a series of catches.
No less than eight Cavaliers were out caught as Denron Maloney picked up 3 for 10, Brent Defreitas 3 for 14 and Niel Niles 2 for 13.
In reply, Ferris Pope smashed 33 and Maloney, who was named Man of the Match, 22 as the Vincy won by 9 wickets inside 6 overs.
“We came out with a plan and we stuck to it. Today was just a Vincentian day. Our bowling was spot on and catching unbelievable and even though it may have been a surprise we know we are always capable of playing like that. Maloney has put up his hand in every game and shown his talent,” Skipper Defreitas said.
The Vincy next face the Royal Knights for a place in the May 8, 2016 Final against Grenada, whilst the Cavaliers are knocked out.
“Next week, well, we take each game as it comes. We will play to the best of our ability, have fun and anything could happen against the Royal Knights,” concluded Defreitas.
