ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith has said he is to make a big announcement on Monday May 4, 2015.

He was delivering opening remarks at the celebration event for the expanded cruise ship pier today April 29, 2015.

"In a few days, in fact on Monday, I will make a major speech about where we are progressing and moving towards," he said.

"And where we are and from whence we came. And giving the picture for tomorrow. Residents and people of the BVI are pleased with where we are today, aren't you?" He asked as he ended his speech.

Persons on the ground were murmuring to each other whether the speech could be to announce an elections date, which some believe could be as early as July 2015.

A senior politician reacting to Premier Smith’s announcement today believes that the Government would want to call an early election with a view to burying issues that are yet to be exhausted in the House of Assembly.

The politician said that while he believes the Government would call a late June – early July elections, he is more concerned that over $100 million in overspending remain unaccounted for and is afraid that with the dissolution of the House of Assembly these matters would not be brought to finality.

The poor Doctor has so many things on his mind. Can Myron and the Speaker continue to sit in the House. The in house fighting among his ministers is getting out of hand. The UK is breathing down his back concerning Financial Services. NHS is a must but cannot be implemented until after the election. We are jammed in.

After giving people a birds eye view of the cruise pier that VIP said was corrupt and people saw the truth for themselves, NDP will be re-elected easily. New pier, new roads, sewage fixed, money saved, contractors working, VIP still in disarray down to the last minute = NDP re-election. They even saying the Walters man backing out from the 8th now at the last minute. Ting te talk.

Say a stunt by the Premier highly expectig. What better way to announce election than wit the cruis ship piere. We dumbos so you hope we forget every nonsense the NDP do. only for self and cronies. Like everything you rushing the road, the hospital cruis ship, sewerage and a fool off the youths, anegada and VG again.... The d@mn road is a waste of tax payering in a areas. There's no plan. All you see people just a dig up every where. There's no respect for safety. My mother I got to be driving she now cause she scared to drive on the road. The hospital is a shame. Who right in the head would put an emergency room up the hill. People still complaining about the service. That overgrown building doesn't make a hospital. You will be dead before you get help in there. NHI will fail in five year.

With all the rush you finish pave the highway in town. Thats how you pave Riad. The thing so lumpy. It costing the tax payers millions for the curve walls you put all true the place. An you say the country broke. got the moost corrupt road Minister and unchristian like bunch. Dont talk about how low we view the house of assembly gone to nothing. Thank god for the press you try shutup.

VIP ready to take back this country. NDP must go!!!! VIP ready to restore this.

The hospital is not a 100% functional but was hurrily opened just to say the NDP finished the hospital as one of their election talking points. It's just sad in this place.

As I sat and listened to "Mary's Little Lamb", I could not believe my ears. Three years ago this man and his "whiter than pale" friends fought against Cruise Tourism, couldn't stand the sight of Cruise ships in the harbor. Now he is championing the cause. He must have had a conversion experience. All said and done, he is still not as bad as Tilford who after an agreement was signed with one of the cruise ship companies to build the facility at NO cost to Government, he stopped the project and boldly told the company that " no thank you, we will build it when we are ready. Today he is at the dock congratulating Mark for a job well done. $40,000,000.00 million in debt and counting. That money will come out of the Knighthood.
