DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has set the record straight regarding his trip to the sister island of Jost van Dyke over the weekend.

The Premier said, contrary to what is being said on social media, he made no contact with the family of the individual who has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

A voice note circulating via WhatsApp alleges that the Premier either had lunch or was in contact with the family of the Vincentian national who resided on JvD and upon her return to her homeland tested for COVID-19 last week.

During the 13th Sitting of the Second Session of the Fourth House of Assembly today, July 21, 2020, Premier Fahie said: “Mr. Speaker, I went Jost van Dyke, and I hear that I was by the person where they were staying and whatever the case may be and I had lunch there. Pure untruths.”

He added: “I didn’t even eat at Jost van Dyke. I was up there for a couple hours, and I didn’t make no contact because I was so conscious of what was happening. I came back over. I went to Frenchman’s Cay.”

Plenty rumours!

The Premier said while he did not want to get into ‘these things’, social media has been buzzing.

“There is so much things out there. Just misinformation! As if going Jost van Dyke is a crime, as if I should feel bad about going Jost van Dyke and not tell the truth about what happened when I went Jost van Dkye. I already sit down and speak to the health people, but I know that this country is long on rumours and short on facts,” he added.

The entire island of Jost van Dyke has been placed on lockdown for 7 days, until July 28, 2020.

Andrew,pleeease....if u are not blaming NDP you are pandering to gossip mongers. Rise above it and conduct yourself according to your position as Premier. Wasting precious time on non issues as if you are not ready during this critical time is troubling.

I agree. I couldn't care less if he sat with family members of the alleged victim or if he had a 5 course lunch. By now, he knows what to do to avoid infection. I would much rather he set the record straight on the gambling. Something isn't right and I am tired of government surprises. Is someone, or a group, trying to build a casino here?

Contact is contact. Covid isn't in food so whether you are or not isn't important. Jost like some of us on JVD don't go anywhere, I live by myself and hardly go out day in day out. But yet now I can't go outside. You were here on Island and could have been in contact with people who were in contact with the positive case too. Suppose st Vincent didn't test her when she land? If I on lock down, everybidy and their goats who were here and who was in contact with people who were here and them people who in contact with people who go over Tortola should all lock down too. 9t ain't a JVD virus. The ferry and boatw and the plane are the carriers.

This is just malicious because Mitch, Governor and other elected officials was also Jost Van Dyke. So why they are not being mentioned.

Has the Premier and other people who went to JVD been tested? Whats the point of tracing if persons who were in JVD just glibly deny any contact
