Power Outage & That’s Ya Problem lose, but still top the softball standings

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – As the Harriette Skelton Fast Pitch Softball League continued over the weekend, both the Women’s and Men’s top placed teams suffered defeats for just the second time this season.

The weekend action got underway on Friday May 19, 2017, with the Lady Pirates defeating Walk Off 19-12. Lady Pirates had 19 runs, 6 hits, 6 errors and left 9 runners on base. Walk Off had 12 runs, 11 hits, 11 errors and left 5 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Perline Scatliffe-Leonard and the loser was Darier Malone. Annecha Graham of Lady Pirates went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and a run batted in, Perline Scatliffe-Leonard went 2-3 with 2 runs batted in. Chandni Wattley, Shereen Sprauve and Allanah Chalwell each scored 3 runs. Denecia Hodge of Walk Off went 1-2 with a home run, a run scored and 3 runs batted in and Bria Smith went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in.

Power Outage defeated Pirates 15-8. Power Outage had 15 runs, 10 hits, 2 errors and left 5 runners on base. Pirates had 8 runs, 7 hits, 1 error and left 2 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Jeremy Penn and the loser was Rico Penn. Jamarlie James of Power Outage went 2-3 with a triple, a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in, Sheldon John went 1-3 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in and Jeremy Penn went 3-4 with a double, 3 runs scored and a run batted in. Allison Leonard of Pirates went 3-3 with 2 doubles, a triple, a run scored and 3 runs batted in.

On Saturday, 20 May, 2017, Hawks defeated West End Warriors 19-6. Hawks had 19 runs, 7 hits, 2 errors and left 5 runners on base. Warriors had 6 runs, 4 hits, 10 errors and left 7 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Riiah Durante and the loser was Sarah Washington. Celine Thomas of Hawks went 1-3 with a home run, 2 runs scored and a run batted in and Karema Brown went 2-3 with a double and 4 runs scored. Tishema Smith of Warriors went 1-3 with 2 runs batted in.

A’s defeated Power Outage 9-4. A’s had 9 runs, 6 hits, 3 errors and left 6 runners on base. Power Outage had 4 runs, 6 hits, 5 errors and left 5 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Neville Smith and the loser was Jamal Allen. Joseph Smith Jr. of A’s went 1-4 with a triple, a run scored and 2 runs batted in and Michael Cline went 1-2 with a triple, and 2 runs scored. Jamarlie James of Power Outage went 1-4 with a home run, a run scored and a run batted in.

The Weekend rounded out with Walk Off beating That’s Ya Problem 7-5. Walk Off had 7 runs, 7 hits, 5 errors and left 5 runners on base. That’s Ya Problem had 5 runs, 4 hits, 3 errors and left 12 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Thea Cooke and the loser was Chevaunne Richardson. Darier Malone of Walk Off went 2-3 with a home run, 3 runs scored and 2 runs batted in, Claury Scatliffe went 1-4 with a double and 2 runs scored and Bria Smith went 2-3 with 2 doubles, a run scored and a run batted in.

A’s defeated Mobsters 4-1.  A’s had 4 runs, 8 hits, 1 error and left 7 runners on base.  Mobsters had 1 run, 5 hits, 5 errors and left 6 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Jayque Hopkins and the loser was Roy Hill. Joseph Smith Jr. of A’s went 2-4 with a double and a triple and AaJalee Malone went 2-3 with a double, a triple and 2 runs scored. Zacchari Stoutt of Mobsters went 1-3 with a triple and a run scored.
