ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islanders Jelissa Potter and Darear Malone and the Warner University’s Lady Royals completed their first conference road trip of the season with a perfect 4-0 record on Saturday April 5, 2014 winning both games of the doubleheader against St. Thomas University.

The Lady Royals held on in game one 4-3 and cruised in game two 6-1.

After winning both games against Northwood University of Friday afternoon, the Lady Royals end the weekend 4-2 in conference play and are now 12-14 overall. The losses dropped the Bobcats to 18-18 on the season and 3-5 in league play.

The Lady Royals needed two runs in the seventh inning to win game one of the doubleheader.  Jessica Castiglione delivered a two-out single that scored two runs and put Warner ahead 4-3.

Warner's first two runs came in the fifth inning on a two-out home run off the bat of Jelissa Potter. Yaileen Milian singled just before Potter blasted her first homerun of the season.

In the circle, senior Lindsey Martin got the start in game one and went the distance for her second victory of the season (2-1). Martin limited the Bobcats to three runs, two earned, on 12 hits through seven innings. The Bobcats put the winning run on second base in the bottom of the seventh but Martin closed the door on a 4-3 victory for the Lady Royals.

Jelissa Potter was 3-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jessica Adams went 2-for-3 with a double as well.

In game two, the Lady Royals scored six runs and got another complete game pitching performance, their fourth of the weekend, en route to a 6-1 victory. Chelsie Valentine followed up her two-hitter from Friday with a five-hitter versus the Bobcats. Valentine gave up back to back hits to begin the bottom of the fourth inning and Bobcats scored their only run of the game.

The rest of the way Valentine held the Bobcats to three hits picking up her sixth win of the season (6-3) and her second of the weekend.

Valentine helped her own cause in the first inning a two-run double to open the scoring for the Lady Royals. Hayley Padgett doubled home two runs of her own in the third and Valentine single home her third run of the game in the fourth inning as the Lady Royals jumped out to a 5-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, Valentine again was in the mix with a RBI groundout that scored Darear Malone.

Valentine got the win in the circle and went 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs. Darear Malone scored twice in the game and went 1-for-4 at the plate. Hayley Padgett drove in a pair of runs and was also 1-for-4.
