Political ideas tarnished by name calling & disrespect - Ronnie Lettsome
“Our people have been shocked about the manner in which some campaigns are being run with the name calling, the slander and the evil political tactics used to mislead our people. My people they are singing a song of disrespect. Some of them forget that our children are listening and observing our behaviour. The VIP will sing one song; Let the work that I’ve done, Speak for me,” Lettsome told residents at a rally in the 7th District on November 1, 2011.
But Lettsome is nevertheless optimistic that at the end of this political phase, the people of the Virgin Islands will return the most experienced and able party to lead, which is the Virgin Islands Party.
He also said Virgin Islanders are fortunate to live in a democratic society where they have the power to choose their government and encouraged voters to take advantage of this.
“We can decide not only the fate of our Districts, but we can also select the 4 best individuals who we believe understand the issues and will represent the people of the Virgin Islands at the Territorial Level.”
Giving some words of advice, the district candidate said persons should consider a few things before going to the polls on November 4 and 7, 2011 noting that there is a record number of candidates this election year to choose from.
“So I ask you to consider very carefully how you will vote. Think wisely. Who has proven to be able to take this country through the critical financial crisis that we are currently facing? Who has the experience and the track record to make sure that the Virgin Islands continues to develop steadily? Who understands that we need to preserve our fragile environment? Who displays no discrimination and truly cares about all the people of the Virgin Islands?” Lettsome asked rhetorically.
