ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Preparations are now in full gear for this year’s Police Week celebrations which will be held from March 22 to 28.

The observance, normally held at the end of February, was rescheduled to March so officers could provide the needed security for the attendees of the high- level OCTA Conference held in the Territory this week.

Under the year’s theme, “Remembering our past, embracing our future and affirming our commitment to work with our communities,” organisers have a mix of events planned with the customary crowd-pleasers – the International Food and Drink Night, Pool Competition and Food Night and Bingo Night carrying a jackpox of $3,000 - all at the Road Town Police Station.

This year’s model students and members of the community will recognized and presented with awards during the week.

This year’s opening church service will be held in Virgin Gorda at the Sanctuary of Hope New Testament Church of God in South Valley on Sunday, March 22.

Sadly, Police Week means nothing to me since I never see my so called community officers in the area I live in. I cannot tell you how unprotected we all feel here. Do the police only drive through and get out of their cars to meet only certain people? They are only a myth in my area so how can I support police I don't even know? SAD!
