ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force confiscated four more illegal bikes within the last two weeks including one that was reportedly seen cart-wheeling along Waterfront Drive in the midst of spectators.

The engine sizes of the four, which range from 650cc to 750cc, exceed the legal size limit of 125cc.

In separate incidences, members of the community assisted in alerting the Police to the location of the bikes. This partnership between Police and the Community allowed for the timely arrival of Police for the seizure. In one case, the riders fled the scene on two motor bikes upon arrival of Police leaving two behind. They were consequently confiscated.

Investigations between Police and BVI Customs are ongoing into this matter therefore members of the public who have information that can assist in identifying those responsible for the illegal importation of these or other bikes are asked to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 468-9339 or BVI Customs at 468-9103 or 441-9104.
