Police seize another loaded firearm – three charged

ROAD TOWN, Tortola,VI - Officers of the Criminal Investigations Unit and Tactical Unit while on special patrol last night seized another loaded firearm and arrested three persons.

Around 9:25pm on Sunday, officers stopped a silver Honda Accura on DeCastro Street in Road Town with one functioning headlamp. The driver of the vehicle was informed of the offence and the vehicle and occupants were searched. A 9mm handgun with 14 rounds of ammunition was found on the floor of the vehicle. All three occupants were taken into custody.

The driver, Merande Potter, 33, Esther Fraser, 31, both of Little Apple Bay and Shaughn McMaster Jr, 18, of Long Bay were charged jointly for unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

In April of this year, a police led stop-search operation on the Sir Francis Drake Highway resulted in the seizure of a firearm and the arrest of two men.
