January 9th, 2012 | Tags: shooting Local gunshots ghetto Crabbe Lot
Police are investigating the reports.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The peaceful atmosphere in the Crabbe Lot area also known as the “ghetto” was shattered early yesterday afternoon Sunday, January 8, 2012 with the popping of gunshots that went on for about two minutes, according to residents in the community.

When police spokeswoman, Diane Drayton was contacted, she did confirm that police were investigating reports of gunshots in the area, and added there were no reports of anyone being injured.

Just recently, on January 1, 2010, an altercation in the vicinity of the High Court around 3:45 a.m. resulted in a young woman being taken to Peebles Hospital for a bullet wound.

According to reports, a fight ensued between two men and shots were fired. One of the bullets reportedly ricocheted – grazing the woman. The young lady’s injury was not life threatening.

Police are yet to make an arrest in that incident.

@positive vision: THE PEOPLE HAVE PLEADED WITH THE PREVIOUS GOVERNMENT AND GOVERNOR TO HAVE THIS DONE TO NO EFFORT. THE PLACE IS A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND ALSO, IN THE CENTER OF TOWN. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS POST OF INCIDENTS AND READ BLOGS AND THE PEOPLE ARE PLEADING FOR THE ILLEGAL AND BAR OPERATIONS IN THAT AREA TO BE SHUT DOWN. UNFORTUNATELY, THE MAGISTRATE COURT SEEM TO BELIEVE THAT THEY SHOULD CONTINUE RELEASING LIQUOR LICENCES TO PERSONS IN THAT ARE WANTING TO OPERATE BARS. I HAVE HEARD THERE IS A SPANISH BAR DOWNSTAIRS OF A TWO STORY BUILDING THAT EVEN ALLOWS THE DRUG DEALERS AND OTHERS WHEN POLICE LOOKING FOR THEM TO HIDE. NEWS FROM THE UNDERGROUND IS THEY ARE USING SOMEONE’S HOUSE OR AN EMPTY HOUSE TO RUN THEIR OPERATIONS.

We need a whole lot more of tthe people in the BVI to provide tips of criminal activity and behavior. It would be better if you called Crimestoppers or used their online tips service on their web page to provide the same information to the police. Otherwise your information may not reach the people (police) that need to know about it.

@hmm Whose post are you responding to???? Just curious...... cause it just does not add up with the above postings. @Agree This is well said in the fantasy world but in the real world (BVI) the people have no confidence in the local police. The police need to build the trust of the people before it gets worst. Many years ago the police force was run by non bvislanders. It may not be a bad idea to go back to that. 'My cousin and your friend' has taken over our local police force.

You are obviously uneducated with the Town area. Crabbe Lot is not just a DOT in Road Town. Go look up your history and research Flemming in the BVI.
