SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – Things are hotting up in the Sea Cows Bay Village Softball Championship with Cherry Ghut finally winning on Sunday April 28, 2013 and Parsons bringing Pleasant Valley’s 2-year winning streak to an end.

In the first game of the day, which began a little after the scheduled start, Cherry Ghut finally got in the win column this season by overcoming Albion, 5-3.

Cherry Ghut's 5 runs came on 10 hits with 1 error and 4 left on base. Darriel Robinson was the winning pitcher striking out 2, orchestrating 6 ground outs and 3 pop outs, whilst Carlos Maynard and Sylvester 'Bucker' Johnson were shining stars on defense for Cherry Ghut.

Top Hitters were Carlos Maynard who went 3 for 3 with 2 singles and a triple. Sirron Scatliffe went 2 for 3 with 2 singles, scoring once and driving in a run. Kenrick 'Blooper' Thomas went 2 for 3 and lifted 2 singles to left field adding 2 RBI. Danbert Sanchez, Sylvester Johnson and Kenneth 'the Flea' Smith each had a hit.

Albion's 3 runs came on 7 hits. They made 2 errors and left 4 on base. The loser was the starting pitcher Denzil Daniel who was relieved by Lionel Hodge in the 4th inning. Top hitters were Clifton 'Tito' Forbes who went 2 for 3. Natheson 'Shadow' Thomas was 2 for 3 with a fielder's choice and a monstrous home run. He knocked in 2 and scored 1. Lionel Hodge, Daryl Christopher and Elvin 'Flower' Forbes each belted a hit for Albion.

The second game of the day appeared to be hotter than July and in what was the biggest game of the first half of the season, the fans were thrilled by the big boys who put on a show in a duel that will be remembered for years to come. 

Parsons hammered out a 9-8 victory over Pleasant Valley on 7 hits. Parsons had 6 miscues and left 2 on base. The winning pitcher was Eli 'Yampie' Nibbs who was relieved by Roy 'Panhandle' Hill in the 4th inning. The impact hitters for Parsons were Akeem 'Chunky' Titley who was 1 for 2 with a walk and a massive home run, scoring 3 times and driving in 1. George 'Shawala' Borrows scored twice in going 3 for 3 with a single and 2 doubles. Kye Rhymer was 1 for 2 with a home run, scoring once and adding 1RBI. Devon Bedford was 2 for 3 with a home run, scoring twice and driving in 4 more. Ian 'Eggist' Hodge was 1 for 2 with a walk and drove in Brent 'Jimmy' Herbert for the winning run to lift Parsons to their 9-8 triumph over the 2 time defending Champs Pleasant Valley who had not lost a game in two and a half years.

Pleasant Valley had 8 runs on 6 hits with a pair of homers. They committed 7 errors, 4 by the second baseman and 4 were left on base. Joseph 'Uncle Joe' Smith, who pitched the 3rd and 4th in relief of Allen 'Woodrow' Smith who took over for Clarence 'Washibo' Fahie in the 2nd after he was being manhandled by Parsons' hitters, was charged with the loss.

For Pleasant Valley, Jamal Todman was 1 for 3 with a huge home run in the 3rd. He reached on 2 errors, scored 3 times and drove in 3 runs. Rayshaun 'Uncle' Mercer was 1 for 3, reached on a strikeout and throwing error. He scored twice and knocked in 1. Clarence Fahie, Javon Fahie and Gurvin Stoutt topped of the hitting with 1 each.

Coming up on Sunday May 5, 2013 at 4 P.M. is Pleasant Valley vs. Albion followed by Cherry Ghut vs. Parsons.
